R. Lee Ermey aka, ‘The Gunny’ has passed away.R. Lee Ermey, the tough-talking Marine Corps sergeant turned actor best known for his role as a foul-mouthed Vietnam-era drill instructor in “Full Metal Jacket,” died Sunday from complications of pneumonia. He was 74.
“He will be greatly missed by all of us,” his longtime manager, Bill Rogin, said in a statement. “Semper Fi, Gunny. Godspeed. Back in 2012 when I was doing a TV show "TheOGT.Tv" we had a chance to spend a few hours with R. Lee. A nicer man you will not find. He even did what we call a "bumper" in TV speak for us and didn't want a dime. Just wanted to spend time talking about guns and his life growing up. Thank you R.Lee, my you R.I.P. |
